The Walt Disney Company, commonly referred to as simply Disney, is a multinational entertainment conglomerate founded by Walt Disney and Roy O. Disney in 1923. It is renowned for its film studio, including iconic animated features like "Snow White" and "The Lion King," as well as its theme parks, such as Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Disney has diversified into various media sectors, including television, streaming services (like Disney+), and merchandise. The company's influence spans across film, TV, theme parks, and beyond, making it a global leader in entertainment and media.
Disney XD is a television channel owned by The Walt Disney Company, launched in 2009. It primarily targets children and pre-teens, offering a mix of animated and live-action programming. The channel features popular series such as "Phineas and Ferb," "DuckTales," and "Big Hero 6: The Series" and content from popular Disney franchises, including Marvel and Star Wars. Disney XD aims to provide engaging and entertaining content that appeals to a younger audience while also focusing on action, adventure, and comedy.
In 2014, Disney XD invited a select group of artists to create short promo animations, known as "bumpers," to air between shows. Buff Monster, a contemporary artist with a deep admiration for Walt Disney, was one of the contributors. Inspired by Disney’s legacy of creativity and craftsmanship, Buff Monster approached the project with a focus on narrative and artistic detail.
The bumper, required to be 15 seconds long and conclude with the Disney XD logo, featured a playful group of mountain characters hanging out, adding a whimsical and imaginative element that aligned with Disney's storytelling tradition. After pitching the concept, the team at Disney approved it and provided key frame specifications. In true Disney fashion, Buff Monster hand-painted each frame—a nod to the artistic legacy of Walt Disney, setting him apart from the other contributors.
Once completed, the paintings were sent to Disney, where their animators brought the images to life. Buff Monster also selected dynamic music with a strong finish to enhance the animation’s energy. The final piece aired globally and was met with wide success, reflecting Disney XD’s core values of fun, creativity, and innovation. The project was a perfect extension of Disney’s brand, blending tradition with modern artistry and delivering memorable, engaging content to audiences worldwide.
