Sweet!!! I just painted the wall outside of The Standard Hotel (Downtown LA)! I first worked with The Standard back in 2006 I believe, when I did an installation at the Hollywood location. They didn�t have this wall Downtown back then. Anyway, I drew a little sketch, packed up my trusty Scion xB, called Tim to come down and help me, called Dan from 33third to do video (33third sells spray paint, and you�ll get 10% off your order by entering code BUFFMONSTER, more at 33third.com). I called some friends in the media, and got to work. I spent two days working on the wall and I�m really happy with how it turned out. My dad, who is facing 24 years in federal prison, even came by to help paint (More on my dad, and progress photos of the wall, on Rob�s post on The Hundreds). The Standard even made a signature Buff Monster dessert which will be on the menu until my wall comes down (towards the end of Feb). Art Basel Miami

Basel was such a blast this year! From painting with Cope2 and Lamour Supreme to doing a live battle with Tristan Eaton and Kano, to hangin with so many rad artists, so doing a signing for the 3D art book Tristan put out, to walking the red carpet, it was full week!

scavenger hunt / a new print

About a month ago, I did a little Scavenger Hunt; part social media experiment, part reward to my loyal fans. I took a recently completed painting, Mystic Mountain People, and made five giclee prints of it. On each print, I painted a different little character and then signed and numbered them as A/P 1-5. On a Tuesday afternoon, I took each print, packaged in a mailing tube, and dropped them around LA, from downtown to the Sunset Strip. I tweeted a photo and a hint for each print that I dropped off. It was really rad to see people�s responses and how quickly it took for people to find �em. I asked whoever found the tube to tweet a photo of it. It was a little while before the first couple were found; just like making street art, you put something out there and don�t know what will come of it. Anyway, you should follow me on twitter if you aren't already doing so.

I quite like the painting and I made a small edition. Each is 16x16 inches (paper is 18x18), signed and numbered in an edition of 50 and available for $150 (plus S+H). Available here!

Again, didn�t take too many photos; just too busy talking to people. But it was rad to sit on the Sucklord�s couch for his 5-hour Suckathon. And Scott Wilkowski�s resin figures came out amazing! The ones there sold out, but can order them from a couple places. More info at Skin Deep

I love Garbage Pail Kids. A lot of my inspiration comes from them. The first piece of original art I bought is a pencil sketch from 1986 for a 3rd series card. So when Gallery 1988 was putting together a GPK show, I had to do something for it: Basking Robin, and How To Be a Garbage Pail Kid, above.

NYC show and new zine

I just home from setting up the show I did with Jeremyville at Tara McPherson's The Cotton Candy Machine in Brooklyn. We all had a lot of fun getting the show ready (special thanks to my girlfriend, Stephanie!), and the opening was a blast. So many rad friends and collectors came out. I released a new little zine at the show, simply titled Recent Drawings. It's a collection of ink drawings from my show in London, drawings for prints, pencil drawings I did in Rome and some Illustrator drawings. It's 5.25x8.25", 28 pages and you can get one here!

Wow, I've been working on a bunch of projects. Recently I painted a little piece in the hallway of the Manual Arts High School in South Central LA. I'm one of many rad artists who have donated our time to make the school a more inspiring place to learn.

Some of the other murals I've been working on served as the basis for a new set of prints through JackThreads. Pep Williams, Else ICR and I each designed 3 posters; each is 11x17, edition of 100, and only available until this Tuesday, the 5th. More info here.

I recently made an illustration for MTV's GYT campaign. Look at those colors!!

Comic con is fast approaching! This year I'm working with Hi Fructose on a new silkscreened print on wood. I'll be signing them at the Hi Fructose booth on Thursday July 21 at 3pm. Be there!!

Mark your calendars: August 5th is the opening of a new little show I'm doing at Tara McPherson's Cotton Candy Machine store in NYC. Jeremyville and I will be showing all sorts of prints, toys and small originals. It's going to be fun!!

5-year anniversary shows

Coming up on July 1st, Corey Helford Gallery has a 5-year Anniversary group show. What a crazy 5 years it's been, and I've been with the gallery since almost the beginning. I'm happy to part of this stellar line-up.

I did this little painting for JapanLA's 5-year Anniversary show. Kittens and ice cream: what more could you want? Anyway, I've been involved with JapanLA since close to beginning as well. The show is up until July 3rd.
